What goes on on July 4th? any fireworks on the beach?

My teenagers want to know if there are fireworks anywhere on the 4th of July.

I was able to find a 4 day stay on Poipu beach area but will have to move to the north shore for the next 3 days which include July 4th. Any input?

Tell you kids fireworks are legal to buy and they will jump for joy. You%26#39;ll see lots of people with fireworks at the beach in Hanalei and at the stadium in Lihue close to the airport is a big display.

Fire works are a big deal here in the Kauai neighborhoods, looks like a war zone with smoke flowing along the ground, and bottle rockets exploding above, and fire crackers sounding like machine guns.

Indeed , Vidinah Stadium will have a big party and show, and it is located in lihue. Quite special, and they call it the concert in the sky. PARTY !

As far as the beach goes, give the Sheraton a call and see if they are having their special, professional fireworks display, near poipu beach.

You would be able to see them, from poipu, and the other beaches leading to the Sheraton.

With the economic times, a call would be a good idea, just to let you know if the sheraton is going to do the usual.

No you do not buy tickets to go to the event at the stadium. It is an all day affair, which starts in the afternoon. The event supports Kauai Hospice. There is a keiki center with a moon bounce and games, which might not appeal to your teenagers. Also, local restaurants and hotels have food booths for you to eat it. There is live music and its good fun. The fireworks don%26#39;t start until about 9 or so.

We have spent the last two Independence Days on Kauai. We bought fireworks at Costco (you can get them just about anywhere) and shot them off at the beach in front of our rental homes. Since this is no longer allowed in most communities in California, this was a huge treat for the kids. I%26#39;ve never been to the all day affair in Lihue. We decided not to drive there either year and just did our own thing. We will be in Santa Rosa, CA. this year so we will have to go to an organized event.

Nothing in Poipu last year. We were on the north shore in 2007.

The celebration at Vidinha Stadium is fun. There%26#39;s food, live entertainment and a live auction supporting hospice. The show is very good and is accompanied by live music. Take something to sit on and umbrellas or pocket ponchos. We got rained on intermittently last year.

My kids will be thrilled to be able to shoot off fireworks. That will be a be a party in itself.

Maybe we should arrange a TA get-together down on the beach and all bring fireworks - I%26#39;ll have 5 teenagers with me on the 4th, all looking for something to do!
