7 adults with your budget...check out the Westin Kaanapali Resort Villas...Great place well under budget. You could each have a 1 bedroom!

There is no ';best'; island. Really! Take this quiz and see what you score:

www.hawaiigaga.com/best-hawaiian-island.aspx

Once you%26#39;ve decided that you can do a search on that same web site for rentals.

My straight shooter answer is you need to go to Oahu (Lanikai, Kailua, Waimonalo, North Shore) for a beachfront house with a pool. I don%26#39;t think there are too many in Hawaii but your budget should be able to give you some very interesting choices.

Also, check costco for car rental coupons. I use hotwire.com, priceline.com, expedia.com and between those three always seem to get a good price.

Kauai, absolutely. Homes on the beach with a pool are hard to come by, but here鈥檚 a couple in Poi鈥檖u.

Just remembered Bali Hai Realty has some very upscale rental homes on Kauai too:

Check %26#39;other%26#39; under the heading Wailea (Maui) on www.vrbo.com.

Not a house, but quite new and luxe: Wailea Beach Villas (Maui).

If you want to be able to swim at the beach by the house, check on seasonality of ocean conditions for the house%26#39;s location. This is the cusp of winter/summer conditions and some places get surf in winter that make it too unsafe to enter the water in some beaches.

Try discounthawaiicarrental.com

I%26#39;ve saved lots of cash with that site - usually get the best deal with avis or budget. It has been cheaper than my costco discounts, too. Priceline can work well for you too, and depending on what island you ultimatley choose, you need to book a car rental NOW. Some rental companies have been selling off cars from their fleets, and not re-buying new replacements. In some (not all) areas this means less choice in size %26amp; inventory. If you need a special vehicle like a minivan or large SUV, this could pose a problem.

Best wishes - hope you have a great trip!

perfect time for the Northshore of Kauai - and you could find a large condo or house . . . www.kauaivacationresorts.com/north.html
