Sheraton Princess Waikiki Car Rental

We are spending the first few nights of our Hawaii honeymoon at the Sheraton Princess in Waikiki. We only have three nights on Oahu, so we want to rent a car for a day to drive around the island ourselves. I%26#39;m looking at Hawaii-Drive-O and the options for our date and Waikiki pickup seem to be Thrifty, Dollar, and Budget. I%26#39;m having a hard time mapping the rental agencies. Can anyone tell me if one of these is closer to the Princess than another? Also, if anyone knows which has more convenient hours for a one-day rental so we can get as much time as possible with the car without having to park it overnight, that would be great.

iceGurlie, Budget is located acrosss the street at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki REsort and Spa. Thrifty and Dollar shares a lot at the corner of Kalakaua and Keoniana Street, at the fork of Kuhio and Kalakaua Ave. Check their rates, because, renting from any rental agency in Waikiki is costly.

Enterprise has a office at the Landmark Condo%26#39;s, corner of McCully and Kalakaua Ave.

As for convenient hours in Waikiki, I believe the car rental offices are open until 8 or 9 pm.

1. The consistently least expensive location to rent a car in Waikiki has got to be the Dollar counter in the Hale Koa Hotel, about a 10 minute walk from the Sheraton PK.

They regularly offer ';city specials'; for circa $30, when the daily fee quoted for everywhere else by every company is $60-plus.

In example, I read elsewhere you were visiting sometime in June. Daily rates at most joints is about $70 in Waikiki. At the Hale Koa Dollar counter, the standard rate is $71.98, but if you click on ';city specials';, ta da, it drops to $31.91 per day for, say, June 15-17.

2. Those lines at the Waikiki car rental counters can be LOOOONG first thing in the morning; particularly at the lot Islekane referred to at Kuhio/Keoniana. Every morning I walk or ride the bus by there a little after 8 and see the frustration on the 15 to 20 folks waiting to be serviced by one or two guys.

So, you might want to see if you can fill out the contract and ';rent'; the car the night before at the end of the business day, take the keys and come back and drive it away the next morning. Or, at least have all the paperwork filled out the night before.
