Tastey eats near Hilton Hawaiian Village

Hello. We are staying at the HHV on May 8th for a week for our 20th anniversay, no kids. Can I get imput on great restaraunts and fun bar/longes that are walking distance from HHV? We are not planning a car for the whole time. Also is there best places in HHV? Thanks.

Our favorite place for everyday dining is Duke%26#39;s. It is in the Outrigger on Waikiki and you can walk there easily. They have great food, and a really nice salad bar that is included with your meal. the nightly music is great too. We like to eat at Todai which is across from the entrance to HHV. It is japanese, all you can eat sushi, ramens, and lots of hot food dishes.

Inside HHV Bali by the Sea is really nice. it is pricey, if you go early they used to have an early bird menu that was quite reasonable. The restaurant is pretty and the views are awesome. Food is a little higher on property. The new Waikiki beachwalk is within walking distance, and has a new Roy%26#39;s. We plan to eat there in June. If you decide to get a car go to the North shore and try Giovanni%26#39;s shrimp truck. It is just an old panel truck, you eat at picnic tables and the shrimp are delicious!!!

The Wailana Coffee House across the street does a good affordable breakfast. Up on Kalakaua I really like Ezogiku for noodles and gyoza. There are tons of options over at the Waikiki Beachwalk, and all three restaurants at Halekulani are very good.

Hello,

We just got back from Hawaii (stayed at the Outrigger Reef). Since you are celebrating your 20th Anniversary without the kids, I would highly recommend %26#39;Roys%26#39; on Lewers Street adjacent to the Outrigger Reef (walking distance from HHV on the beach, certainly a beautiful stroll).

At Roys you%26#39;ll get excellent service and exquisite food (order the rib eye which was mouth watering).

Mahalo

The Yard House on Lewers (just east of Roys on the same side of the street)is outstanding. All kinds of food, beer, and other drinks. I had a delicious fresh fish (can%26#39;t remember the name) covered in mac nuts. Yummy!

We ate dinner at the Shore Bird. We weren%26#39;t too sure about having to cook our own food, but it turned out to be fun and the cheapest dinner we had in Hawaii using the coupon from Oahu Gold booklet that we picked up at the airport.

We ate breakfast at the Wailana Coffee House one morning. It was okay, probably wouldn%26#39;t go back. Our waitress was working hard, but getting nowhere. She got at least 4 things wrong with our order that we had to keep correcting. Although, it was a cheaper breakfast than anywhere we could get at HHV. We just ate breakfast in the other mornings making use of the kitchen in our unit.

It was nice walking along the beach to get to the Yard House and Shore Bird. To get to Lewers St, walk along the beach until you get past Fort DeRussy and then head up to the street. Lewers is just one more street over. Or walk through the Outrigger.

For your actual anniversery dinner go to the Halekulani. Start at the House Without a Key for cocktails and pupus and listen to the Hawaiian music then go to Orchids for dinner. If you call now for reservations you may be able to get %26#39;the point%26#39;, which is on the ocean front across the lawn from the House Without a Key.

The bar at the Yard House can be fun and I wouldn%26#39;t miss the Mai tai Bar at the Royal Hawaiian or the Banyan Court at the Moana Surfrider. They are classic Hawaii, not hot night spots.

I think Duke%26#39;s is a great place for a late lunch cocktails.

Oooops, I forgot Moose%26#39;s... a fun place for a drink.

I haven%26#39;t been to the new Cheeseburger on the Beach walk, but I like their other locations.

Here%26#39;s another vote for Ezogiku we eat there every time and last visit ate there 3 times.

I%26#39;ve heard the Yardhouse has a great happy hour I think it%26#39;s 2:30-5:00 good drink and pupu specials.

The Mai Tai Bar at the Royal Hawaiian is a must for us at least for a couple drinks never had the food there.

Aloha Marie

The resort has Bali by the Sea which is a beautiful beach front location and the food is great. It is Pacific Rim. I think you can get the menu on-line at www.HiltonHawaiianVillage.com. They also have a brand new restaurant just opening this week, called Tropics Bar %26amp; Grill. I sampled the menu and it is worth trying. The hotel is trying to keep the prices affordable for guests. They call the cuisne, ';Authentic Beach Cuisine'; and all that means is that it has a Pacific Rim influence. Other restaurants right on property include Sergios Italian Restaurant, Hatsuhana (Japanese restaurant and sushi bar) and Benihana (always busy and the food always tasty and priced right).

Wailana Coffee Shop is across the street. Wailana is a local coffee shop. They serve large quantities of decent food at a decent price. iHop is next to Wailana (but when you are in Hawaii you should stay away from chains and try other restaurants.)

A good place to find a variety of restaurants is the Ala Moana Shopping Center (close to Hilton). I would recommend walking over there but then get a taxi back. Visit www.alamoanacenter.com to find out more about the shops and restaurants at the center. It is a fabulous shopping center (probably one of the best in the United States) that has a very good choice of restaurants. Try Longhi%26#39;s, Alan Wong%26#39;s Pineapple Room at Macy%26#39;s, Mariposa at Neiman Marcus, lots of others depending upon what kind of food you enjoy. There%26#39;s also a really nice place on the first floor of Nordstrom called eCafe. There%26#39;s also a food court with lots of choices, but I don%26#39;t like sitting too close to strangers. I prefer air-conditioning and distance from my neighbor. That%26#39;s just me. ;-)

You might also really enjoy strollng down Kalakaua Avenue in the heart of Waikiki and looking at restaurants on that strip and at the new Waikiki Beach Walk. They have a ';Roy%26#39;s'; which is very good, YardHouse and lots of other choices. I think the Outrigger Reef also has an ocean front restaurant that is suppposed to be very good and more on the casual side. There are also a lot of restaurants at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center in the heart of Waikiki.

If you want a nice romantic restaurant beach front restaurant, you will like Bali by the Sea. Check the Hilton Hawaiian Village website for the menu. You can book a table on line at the website. Ask Alicia the restaurant manager for a table right on the beach.

Congratulations on your 20th anniversary!!!

I was going to offer the EXACT suggestion as Scott - House without a Key for drinks and a little music - and then Orchids for dinner!!! Very romantic setting and wonderful food and service... you%26#39;ll love it :)

Aloha and enjoy!
