August Grand Hyatt or Westin ( north vs south )

Hi,

Will be in Kauai for 5 nights in August. Have the following options:

$150/night @ grand hyatt or free at Westin using points.

Hard to decide because of the whole north vs south during summer and resort vs timeshare. I don%26#39;t mind paying if we%26#39;re gonna be in the south most of the time.

Hopefully someone who is knowledgeable with both places can chime in.

thanks!

What a dilemma!!!

The North Shore ocean will be better but $150/nt to stay at the Hyatt??? I would go for that and drive to the NS for the day.

I LOVE the Hyatt and like The Westin. It reminds me of an apartment cpmplex with a nice pool. Chances are you won%26#39;t have any view and if you go stay to the NS it%26#39;s all about the view. The grounds of the Hyatt are much prettier than the Westin. Beach access is poor at The Westin but Shipwreck Beach in front of the Hyatt is rough. I don%26#39;t care about that. I would still stay at the beautiful Hyatt and I LOVE the NS so that says a lot.

Where are you getting the Hyatt for $150.00 per night in August?

cash+points

I agree with jebett -- the Hyatt hands down. $150 a night there is an outrageous deal. Normally, we recommend that folks stay north in the summer, because it is very nice there and can be wet in the winter. But, fact is that the whole island is nice and the Hyatt is wonderful.

Thanks for the recs!

We%26#39;ve had some great free nights with Hyatt points in Kauai. Couldn%26#39;t think of a better place to use them. We always go in August, too. Great to be in Poipu, and you can always make a trip north and spend the entire day.

jebett said it all, grab the Hyatt Resort, the Westin is a 5 star apt complex, very nice and quiet,

oh, check out my boys Greenstone Project at Stevenson%26#39;s Library at the Hyatt, shoot some pool , have a drink, tip da band

$150 a night at the Hyatt! WOW! We love this hotel and can get a decent government rate but not even close to what you are getting. I would definitely stay at the Hyatt and use the money you are saving to enjoy some great restaurants in Poipu.

BTW, the Hyatt has a nice mini-frig that we stock up with drinks and breakfast items. We like to take our time getting up in the morning so having those items available is nice.
