Aqua Wave or Hilton Hawaiian Village

My family of 5 (1 teen, 2 elementary school-aged kids) is going to spend one night in honolulu before we go to Maui for a week. We plan on seeing Pearl Harbor first thing in the morning of the 2nd day, but will be hanging out on Wakiki on the day we arrive. I expect we will be tired from the trip over but arrive in Honolulu at 11am so would like to relax and have some beach time. Probably head to bed early-

So here is the question- At the Aqua wave we have the suite with 3 queen beds and at the Hilton Hawaiian Village we could have the 1 bedroom suite with 2 beds and a couch. So either has enough room for everyone to sleep but the Hawaiian Village is about $120 more for one night.

Is the Hawaiian Village worth it for only about 24 hours use? Anyone stay at the Wave before? I would like the Hawaiian Village more for the resort feel but don%26#39;t want to waste the money if it is not worth it since we won%26#39;t be there very long.

Aqua Wave or Hilton Hawaiian Village

I have stayed at the HHV and loved it (in fact staying there again in June) however for just one night I would do the Aqua because of the savings and it sounds like more room for you all. I haven%26#39;t stayed at the Aqua though, it sounds nice but it is not right on the beach and it doesn%26#39;t look like it has a pool. Is being on the beach and having pools worth the $120 extra?

Aqua Wave or Hilton Hawaiian Village

I would stay at the HHV, there is no comparison with the Aqua Wave. The fun your kids will have at the Hilton in the pools and beach, even for just 24 hours is well worth it.

This is not even a contest, yes the HHV is worth an extra $120.

Hi there, I am not sure what rate you might have got at the Hilton Hawaiian but if you are an AAA member you can save an addtional 15 percent.

Happy planning!

You will love Hilton Hawaiian Village. It is very much self-contained and you can really get a lot out of your 24 hour stay. If they are able (occupancy is low), they will give you a late check-out. Go to www.HiltonHawaiianVillage.com to discover all that is available including 4 or 5 swimming pools - one called the Paradise Pool that is heated and has 5 waterslides, restaurants (the new Tropics restaurant will be opened and it has kid%26#39;s meals for $7.50). Wildlife and beautiful landscaping. Even a pond of African Penguins. They are also on the widest stretch of beach in Waikiki and there is a lagoon right in front of the hotel that you can rent water toys like kayaks, watercycles and paddle boards to play in. If you are there on a Friday Night, the hotel has a Polynesian show by the pool for $15 per person (includes one drink). The show ends in a fireworks display. If you don%26#39;t want to pay for the show, you can peek in at from the lobby and then at 7:35pm run out to the beach and watch the fireworks go off right over your head. It is spectacular.

After your visit to Pearl Harbor...get back to the hotel and enjoy more of it.

Aahhh...and then it is off to beautiful Maui. You will have a great Hawaiian vacation.

Wow -- that%26#39;a HUGE contrast. Aquas get some pretty bad reviews. Loong posts about that. HHV is a completely different atmosphere. Large, amusement parkish, self-contained. Great for kids. Downside is that you will spend all your time at HHV itself and probably won%26#39;t get off property and explore Waikiki. That would be too bad.

I have stayed at the HHV 3 times and my kids will be there in July. The one issue I would have with this hotel for one night is that I%26#39;ve heard the check in can take hours. To avoid this my family will stay in the Ali%26#39;i Tower which has a private check in and hopefully wil go quicker but this Tower is more expensive than other rooms.
