Lihue (Marriott) or Big Island (Hilton Waikoloa) in January?

Thinking about the Marriott resort on Lihue or the big Hilton on the Big Island in January..Any thoughts as to what is better?

What island is best visited (between those two) during the 2nd week of January?

I go to the Marriott often, usually fall, but Kauai is the most northern of the islands and so I think for January the Big Island might be a better choice, although you could luck out on the weather. Not sure the Hilton would be my choice though, have you looked at the Prince and Marriott on the Big Island? Both are supposed to have nice beaches, although it has been a long time since I have been there, so will let the experts chime in on that subject.

For me it would be the weather in January. I have found that winter weather to be warmer and drier in Waikoloa than on Kauai. The Waikoloa side of the island is more of a high desert climate so tends to stay warmer.

Yeah, I am concerned about the weather.

We want to choose between these two properties since we have an owner referral package: $649 for 5 nights at the Marriott, or $799 for 6 nights at the Hilton Waikoloa.

Am hoping January won%26#39;t be too rainy in Kauai!
