Ilikai hotel - new or dated rooms?

I%26#39;m looking at staying at the Ilikai Ocean view (kitchen) room and not sure if we%26#39;re anticipating a dated 60%26#39;s room or a new reno%26#39;d room? Looking online and see condos and pics I%26#39;m confused...

Thanks,

Ilikai hotel - new or dated rooms?

Do not stay there. They are having a lot of problems. The owner of the building just filed bankrupcy. I think if you google it you will find recent articles on the topic. The building is half owned by a condo owners and half owned by the hotel owner. Find another location. The building is in disrepair. I heard that Waikiki Banyan was good for condo stays. Hopefully, others will come on to give you some advice.

If the hotel is still operating I%26#39;d stay there again. We were in an oceanfront room for three nights in January and a lagoon view room for one night in March. (Home on Maui in between.)

Both rooms were HUGE (500 sq ft) plus wide lanai, clean, top-quality linens. Friendly service. Decor in both rooms was updated and baths new; good A/C; flat-screen TV in oceanview room. Kitchens serviceable but not glam. Pool is very nice. Lobby nice, but shops shuttered.

We thought that FOR WHAT WE PAID it was a steal --under $130/nt plus tax and including a continental breakfast buffet. We%26#39;d booked minimal rooms and were upgraded because people have been scared off by the bankruptcy troubles.

I actually liked the lagoon view better, looking out over both ocean and the city, but oceanview was quieter.

I was looking at budget-priced condos for June/July, and the Ilikai kept popping up. There were many reviews, including very recent ones, that were mostly positive. Poster Chisue also had a good experience.

Does anyone else beside HHspecialist have some information on the bankrupcy situation at the Ilikai?
