Our new online gallery www.buddhastatuegallery.com features our beautiful Buddha and Kwan Yin statues for the home and garden. We have been working with carvers in Bali since 1995. They have been creating exquisite carvings that we then have reproduced . The artists are paid royalties on all the sales of the reproductions of their original artwork. You may have noticed some of these statues in our home and in our garden.
We appreciate your taking the time to respond and would also appreciate your sharing this information with family and friends. Mahalo!

Kauai Museum 29th Annual May Day Lei Contest
Admission $5
********************************
Correction to this - unless I read the flyer at the Museum yesterday incorrectly the admission is free - it is actually the normal ';Ohana'; day that is the first Saturday of every month - when everyone gets in free to the Museum.
Happy Lei Day everyone! If you live here - give a lei and a honi to someone you care about!
Malama Pono,
Janet
You could be right. This list comes from Carol Yotsuda. I remember there being an admission in the past, as it discouraged me from going in.
Aloha from Kaua%26#39;i!
This might be a good place to mention that the first Saturday of every month is a free admission day for everyone to the Kaua%26#39;i Museum - Ohana Day. Usually there are special demonstration and events on those days as well.
We normally charge $10 for adults - various lesser prices for seniors, students, children. There are docent tours free with admission on certain days as well.
The Museum is non-profit and while it would be wonderful to be ';free admission'; all the time - that just isn%26#39;t fiscally possible for us.
Do remember that we have two buildings - the historic 1924 Kaua%26#39;i Library building (main bldg) and the adjacent two story building as well.
I%26#39;ll be working the silent auction for the leis tomorrow - all day - so come by if you are wanting an incredible and unique experience to see some of the best lei crafters on our island and their creations.
Malama Pono,
Janet
Janet,
That museum is a treasure! Last year we accidently hit the free tour which was guided by a very knowledgeble elderly ex-school teacher of Japanese decent. I have never had as facinating a tour anywhere as the one he gave. I would have loved to sit down and %26#39;talk story%26#39; with this man all day.
We had always passed by the museum and thought we%26#39;d leave it for another time. Now I can%26#39;t wait to go back and spend time reading all the captions on the photos and studying the artifiacts. We plan on going during our next visit two weeks from now.
I hope others read this, visit and support the museum as it is a treasure for all visitors and residents alike.
Aloha from Kaua%26#39;i!
';a very knowledgeble elderly ex-school teacher of Japanese decent';
This would be our fabulous ';Uncle Roy Miyake'; whom I just just did a dual docent tour with yesterday for the 4th graders from Hanalei School. The way he connects with people and particularly schoolchildren is amazing!
Uncle Roy was born and raised here and can tell you stories from the days of WWII all the way up to the present - he is my mentor at the Museum and the person whom I emulate in my docent tours - I learn something from him everytime I work with him!
Another Kaua%26#39;i Living Treasure!
Malama Pono,
Janet
Janet,
Please tell %26#39;Uncle Roy%26#39; that he made a lasting impression on two old %26#39;schoolchidren%26#39; and that he is one of my most incredible memories of Kauai.
Karen
Aloha from Kaua%26#39;i!
I will indeed pass along your comments to Uncle - he is talking of retiring but I just can%26#39;t imagine the Museum without him!
The Exhibit on WWII and the Japanese Americans on Kaua%26#39;i now on display at the Museum was in big part put together by Uncle Roy.
Malama Pono,
Janet
Wowza! Lot%26#39;s of great events. People just keep on celebrating even when I can%26#39;t be there.
