What are your top 10 reasonably priced restaurants? And, would you say ';reasonably priced'; is less than $20 a person? Please also list what side of the island it%26#39;s on (or what city)?
Thank you.
Top 10 Reasonably Priced Restaurants

Top 10 Reasonably Priced Restaurants
Cotton you are going to get a lot of different interpretations of ';reasonably'; priced here on the forum. But $20 per person, if you are talking about dinner, is more like ';cheap'; on Kauai. It can certainly be done, but without adult beverages and multiple courses. My favorite meal around that price in Poipu would be either ahi sandwich at Brennecke%26#39;s or dim sum at Yum Cha. In Kapaa, I like the King and I Thai restaurant and Ono Family restaurant (breakfast and lunch only). For that price on the north shore, I like the Hanalei Gourmet. Beyond these, you should check out the threads on cheap eats -- lots of good recommendations for plate lunch carry out, bento boxes, fish and burgers.
In Hanalei Polynesia Cafe has a good mixed plate for $10.95. Few tables or take out /across the street from Bubba';s burgers which I personally like.
kahaleo cafe is one in the South shore area.
Yes, after I posted I realized I should have explained ';reasonably priced.'; Never having been in Kauai, just reading about it, and understanding things are much more expensive there.... I mean ';reasonable'; for Kauai.
If you would catagorize a restraunt as ';expensive'; for Kauai, please leave that off this top 10 list.
I%26#39;m also assuming that ';reasonable'; means an entree $20 or less. (not including tax, tips, beverages)
Am I even in the ballpark with what you would catagorize ';reasonable'; as?
there are many old threads re cheap/moderate eats. You may find more info if you dig a little rather than just ask for lists.
There are very few sit down, nice, restaurants on Kauai where $20 will cover dinner. Most will have one or two entrees below $20, but by the time you add drinks/dessert/tip, you%26#39;d be well over.
These days I expect $25 ish for fresh fish, $23-29 for steak eg. Hukilau. If you go to more expensive places you%26#39;d be deep into the $30s and even the $40s at say Tidepools.
Honestly, most of the really nice restaurants on Kauai are going to average a bit more than that for most entrees. As mentioned previously, it%26#39;s doable, but more so at some of the more casual hangout type places and not in the places people consider a nice treat for a meal on vacation. A lunch entree less than $20 per person is definitely in the ball park, but dinner is going to be more.
To help you dig a little more, here is a link to many of the restaurants on Kauai. If you go into each restaurant%26#39;s website, you might get some pricing information. I%26#39;m not sure if the pricing is current, but it shouldn%26#39;t be too far off.
